One thing that may not be immediately apparent to the untrained ear concerns the complexity of many ‘Top 40′ or made for radio songs. Ready? They really are not that complex. They are actually very, very formulaic and oft times involve no more than 3 to 4 chords.

You can actually go back as far as the Beatles and start to see a very basic chord structure, that if you’re a fan of classical music (think Beethoven and friends, and while you’re at it, check out the origins of Beatles classic Blackbird).

That said, no one can deny the musical awesomeness of Journey. If you say otherwise, you should stop believing in yourself. Seriously.
